Dornfeld announces rare visit to greater Sacramento region

Artist’s rendition of conference to be attended by Joanna Dornfeld

Joanna Dornfeld, daughter of noted Bureau of Labor and Statistics maven Mary Marcotte has announced her intention to visit Sacramento in early August. Dornfeld will be attending a conference put on by the National Council of State Legislatures and California State University Sacramento from August 2 through August 9, 2008.

Dornfeld will arrive in Sacramento on August 1, and sources have confirmed that she “would love to see as many of the Marcottes as possible.” Family insiders have hinted that a barbecue dinner at John and Patti Marcotte’s  South Sacramento home may be possible, but as of yet there has been no official statement from Dornfeld or her representatives.

Dornfeld’s trip would be the most recent in a string of vists to Sacramento by Marcotte relatives, including renown global traveler Nancy Heidenreich, family historian Mary Marcotte and repeated visits from Marcotte patriarch and hospitality industries magnate Ulysses “Leon” Marcotte.

Stella is 6 months old!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted any photos of Anya and Stella. They’ve both changed so much, and I can’t believe Stella is 6 months old. She’s sitting up, playing with toys, talks and jabbers a ton, and grabs for John’s keyboard when he sits at the computer with her in his lap.

Here are a few photos from the past couple months.

Enjoy!

Our Day at the Zoo

Patti, Anya, Stella and I went to the Sacramento Zoo on Saturday. It’s one of Anya’s favorite places. She loves the giraffes, lemurs, zebras and kookaburra — although she’s a little afraid of the chimps. (They have a tendency to shriek loudly.)

We ate lunch by the flamingos, and considered going on the little train, but decided the exercise was good for us. I took some photos, and here are the first few that I uploaded. More to follow.

Stella Meets Grandpa

We all had a great time visiting with Leon in Sacramento.  I think Anya enjoyed it the most; this is a nice change from the norm since she’s usually a bit stand-offish. Here are a few pictures from John’s birthday, Anya & Stella, and Grandpa with Stella. Steve has more pictures but he won’t send them to me. Maybe he will post them some day.

Enjoy!

Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm

John and I took Anya and Stella to the pumpkin farm today. This place was great! They had pony rides, forts to play in, hay rides, lots of food and a petting zoo. It’s about 45 minutes north of Sacramento and much more convenient than Apple Hill because we could do everything in one place without getting in and out of the car.

Anya got to take her first pony ride and feed goats for the first time as well. A fun time was had by all!

How tall is Anya? Saddle up! Anya’s ready to ride.

Giddy-up! In the fort. Hungry goats.

Stella - 4 Weeks old!

Stella is growing fast and really focusing in on things. As you can see from a few of these photos, she’s not always super happy with big sister Anya being in her face ALL the time. But it’s meant with the best of intentions.

Enjoy!
